Congratulations to Tal Spiegel, who you may also know as @desserted_in_paris, on the release of his gorgeous picture book. Tal has combined two of his favourite passions, French pastries and shoes, to produce 300 pictures of mouthwatering photography!
This Israeli born talent, who also happens to have a keen creative eye, arrived in Paris in 2014 to study pastry-making at the prestigious École Grégoire-Ferrandi. After several failed attempts to successfully photograph pastries, Tal finally found his groove on the day that his shoes coordinated with his dessert. And the rest, as they say, is history...
Instagram proved to be a great platform for Tal's passion and creativity, and I for one am happy to have a reference for Parisian pastry shops. Flicking through the book, I came to the end and discovered some yummy pastry recipes, as well as a F.A.Q. section. The latter was particularly revealing: Tal owns an impressive amount of shoes (200 pairs and counting), has a trusted method when it comes to taking photos (40-50 at a time, out of direct sunlight) and is disciplined when it comes to trying the pastries (tastes a little of each instead of eating whole).
I was lucky enough to be gifted this sweet book, which I will be sure to put in the hands of visiting friends! It would make a great coffee table book or an original present for a friend with the sweet tooth : )
